Personal Projects
Personal projects that I do in my spare time. These include marketing & advertising mock-ups, art projects, and photography I’ve taken. Enjoy!
Spare-time work
This is the stuff I make for myself: marketing and advertising mockups, art projects, and photography. The Goodman Guitars NFT collection is the biggest of them, 10,000 one-of-one guitar artworks. Further down are photos from trips and city walks, including New York, Melbourne, and Las Vegas. Browse around.
About These Projects
None of this was made for a client, which is exactly why I like it. Here’s the story behind the two biggest pieces on this page.
Goodman Guitars
Goodman Guitars is a generative art collection of 10,000 one-of-one guitar NFTs on the Polygon blockchain, minted in August 2022. The art was built in Adobe Illustrator, assembled by script, and stored on IPFS. With generative art, you design a set of individual parts and a script combines them, so every finished piece comes out different. I worked out the whole process myself, from creating the art to setting up the smart contracts on Polygon, and listed the collection on OpenSea. I wrote a short post when it launched: Goodman Guitars NFT drop.
Photography
The photos come from trips and everyday walks: Manhattan at night, Brooklyn in the snow, Melbourne’s train stations and Bourke Street, a river in Kyoto, an Okinawan beach, mountains in New Zealand and a Las Vegas sunset. A lot of them were edited in darktable, a free, open-source photo editor, and I also work in Photoshop.
Why I keep making things
Personal work is where I get to try things without a brief. Editing photos sharpens my eye for ad creative, and building the NFT collection taught me more about smart contracts than reading about them ever could. I also write, record and publish my own music, which you can find on the music page.
Tools and skills used
